Our Team

Hi! I'm Tia (she/they), the founder of Moonflower & Myth.

By day, I'm an educator, storyteller, and lifelong advocate for curiosity. Over the years, I've worn many hats—teacher, mentor, library volunteer, trivia host, human rights practitioner, and community organizer—but one thing has remained constant: my love of stories.

What began as a simple desire to write more book reviews soon grew into something much bigger. As I continued building my Minnesota Children's Author Database and watched the Homegrown Author program I co-founded flourish at my school, I realized I didn't just love reading stories—I loved creating spaces where stories and the people behind them could be celebrated.

Somewhere along the way, my dream shifted from contributing to someone else's publishing company to asking a different question: Why not build something of my own? A place where readers, writers, educators, librarians, authors, illustrators, and dreamers could come together to discover books, share ideas, and celebrate the power of storytelling.

Moonflower & Myth is the beginning of that dream. My hope is to cultivate a literary community rooted in curiosity, belonging, and wonder—one that grows from book reviews into author conversations, podcasts, collaborative projects, and, perhaps one day, publishing stories that deserve to bloom.

I've always believed books have the power to change us. They help us understand ourselves, connect with others, and remind us that there are countless ways to exist in the world. As someone who is queer, neurodivergent, and a firm believer in the magic of libraries, I know firsthand what it feels like to search for stories that make you feel seen.

Moonflower & Myth was born from that belief.

When I'm not listening to a book, you can usually find me sleeping, exploring Minnesota libraries, hosting trivia, planning my next community project, or convincing others to talk about children's literature.

I'm so glad you're here.

After all, every myth begins with a story.
